Two Years In…
If you know my “why,” then you know this has been a two-year effort—a journey marked by disruption, loss, and triumph. In a time of major upheaval, where Black and Brown bodies are tossed to and fro, dismissed and disrespected, our voices must sound loud like a trumpet. We have something to say.
What better way to amplify that message than through a podcast? Two years ago, when I began this work, a podcast wasn’t even on my mind. My focus was on uplifting creatives and opening honest conversations about mental health. Now, in a world where podcasts are as common as nostrils—everyone has one—the noise can be overwhelming, sometimes even unsettling. Yet, we all have the freedom, and the right, to speak.
On this platform, we also claim the responsibility to tell the truth—our truth. To hold ourselves accountable for mishaps, to embrace vulnerability, and to reflect on missed opportunities. We create space to talk about where we’ve fallen short, and more importantly, how we got back up, made amends, and kept moving forward. We highlight stories of overcoming, living fully in resilience, favor, grace, and gratitude.
Art In June: Delicacies of Society is a podcast designed to explore the intersection of art, mental health, and the economic factors that directly and indirectly impact our well-being. This work is not easy, but it is necessary. The team behind me is powerful, compassionate, and fearless—I love them deeply. We are ten toes down, ready to produce impactful episodes and bring innovative surprises to life.
Special shoutouts to Bin, Aaron, Emme, and Elle; to the late Alston Jack for the music intro; to Zinah Ruff; and to all of the artists and community partners—including Bergen New Bridge Medical Center—who helped bring Art In June forward. I am forever grateful.
So stay tuned—because we are just getting started, and we’re ready to make every moment impactful.
Paraphrasing Ephesians 6:14–16: Stand firm with the belt of truth fastened around your waist, the breastplate of righteousness in place, feet grounded in peace, the shield of faith lifted high, and the sword of the Spirit in hand. With this armor, we forge ahead—challenging stigma and confronting mental health with courage.
Action.
